The Golden Circle

A friend of mine sent along a video link to me recently with the caveat, "Be sure you have a solid 15 minutes for this".  I'd make the same recommendation to you.  Take a look:
Click here to see Simon's talk on "Why?"

The premise of this talk by Simon Sinek is to begin with the question, "Why?" in an effort to become an effective leader and inspire change.  He discusses how most people/companies begin with "What?", move on to "How?", then end with "Why?" if they can even answer that question.  Simon argues that the inspirational leaders in history all did it in the exact opposite way.  They answered "Why?", then "How?", then "What?".  Martin Luther King didn't say, "I have a plan - and here it is."  He said, "I have a dream" (a.k.a. this is "why").  Apple doesn't tout itself as a computer manufacturer, they are simply in it to create the most compelling style and to innovate.  What they create is an afterthought.  Even Randy Watson (from the What's Goin' Down episode of "That's My Mama") said, "I believe that children are our future" before he said, "teach them well and let them lead the way ...".

And it got me thinking - let's forget about WHAT HowGiving does, or even HOW it does it for a minute.  The real question is WHY?  Why do I care?  Why would people be compelled to use it?  Here it is, bottom-lined:

Why?  To help you close the gap between the person you are and the better person you truly intend to be -  kind, thoughtful and giving - and, as a result, to make the world a better place.

How?  By making our thoughtful and charitable intentions a reality.

What?  HowGiving provides a service that takes your intentions and puts them into action by providing the reminders, the purchasing, the shipment ... the complete fulfillment of what you always intended to do - acknowledge those important to you.

But it all starts with WHY.  Why can't we all work together to better the world - to pool funds to help those in need, to show people we really care about them, to acknowledge what they mean to us?  I know this is a tad on the warm and gushy side, but at the end of the day, what do you want?  To be thoughtful and giving, or to be cool?  Heck, why not both?

So sign up - it will be ready soon.  Go to www.HowGiving.com >>

Peace.
